About Us

Mission: For each scout to understand and embrace their own leadership, and to develop each scout to be prepared to guide organizational activities.  For the adults to actively serve as advisers and trainers, and to move the scouts to reaching their potential by engaging partnerships to enhance scout access, by increasing our knowledge and awareness through training and development, and fostering an inclusive and transparent environment.

Objectives: To work for excellence at all levels, focusing on Community Service, Leadership, Scholarship and Social Justice. To value the importance of supporting a diverse and underserved population of scouts through introduction to the outdoors, as we see these experiences impacting their entire lives. We believe in nurturing an environment that puts safety first, both physically and emotionally in the lives of the families that are a part of '97.  

We believe that even with educational and other extracurricular activities, you will be able to make a place for scouting that can allow you to achieve your goals, and as adult leaders, we will train and support you.  Yet, the objective of this organization is to help develop the leader within, and this means that scouts will take the active lead in managing the troop or pack.  Whether you are an official leader or not, you are always expected to assume leadership, because at some point, YOU WILL BE A LEADER in the pack, troop and beyond.
